Is an '86 Trans Am a reliable daily driver?

I'm lookin to buy this '86 Trans Am as my first car...it's got a 305 TPI that has less then 50k miles on it....Would this be a good daily driver for a 17 year old New Yorker?? And if not are repairs exspensive??
