If there was a college football playoff, would this happen.............?
Ok so if theres a college football playoff, and winning your conference guaranteed you a spot in it, would we see more meaningful inter conference games in the regular season? Right now, it seems like the teams that are national championship caliber don't schedule that meaningful of inter conference games, because going undefeated virtually gaurantees you a spot in the N.C. and playing difficult teams naturally increases your chance of a loss. You have to admit, you don't see two ranked teams from different conferences play each other that often in the regular season. Look at West VA and Rutgers. Both played Maryland, which really didn't prove anything and didn't hurt or help eithers chances of winning their conference but ended any chance for Rutgers to go to the N.C. In a playoff system, a loss in this game wouldn't really hurt you, so wouldn't West VA and Rutgers take shots at teams like LSU or Florida since it would be more likely they would play a team like that in the playoffs?
