If the construction company is really on the ball, all the subs are in place and dedicated to your job, and there are no material delays, you're looking at about 6 months minimum. But, if there are any kind of delays, these could stretch a project out to as much as a year or two. I would say the average amount of time for a modest home is 6 - 12 months, with more elaborate construction (requiring special materials or artisans) being more like 12 - 18 months.
